Leap Day

The tradition of women proposing on 29th February each leap year goes back to when courtship rules were strict. The leap year day was ignored (lept over) in English law and had no recognition. Because the day had no legal status, it was assumed that traditions also had no status. Making it okay for a woman to propose marriage to a man, one day every four years.
